Shane Cantin was raised in Northwest Arkansas and graduated from College of the Ozarks near Branson, Missouri in 1991. In 1993, Shane received his law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and then worked at the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and the City Attorney’s Office in Springfield, Missouri.
Shane went into private practice in 1995, and since then has represented clients in state courts throughout Southwest Missouri and in federal courts in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Illinois. Shane is one of the few attorneys in Missouri who has represented defendants in two federal capital murder trials (trials where the federal government is seeking the death penalty).
Most of Shane’s work involves representing people charged with fraud and financial crimes; child pornography and related internet crimes; sex crimes such as rape, sodomy, molestation, and sexual contact with a student; conspiracy; robbery; and firearm offenses. Shane also has substantial experience representing defendants charged with drug-related offenses, including cases with complex search and seizure issues and toxicology issues.
